Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. Visit: www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org for more information. I offer the Adult, Older Adult and Public Safety (Police, Fire and Rescue, EMT) versions.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don't need any formal training to attend the workshop; anyone 16 or older can learn and use the ASIST model. For more information visit: www.livingworks.net

safeTALK is a half-day alertness training that prepares anyone 15 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive. safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources, such as caregivers trained in ASIST. As we become elders, life circumstances shift in ways we could not have anticipated, the responses and expectations of people in our lives may not match our self-perception, and experiences that were once comfortable can now be unsettling or difficult.

The IONS Conscious Aging Personal Enrichment Workshop offers participants the opportunity to lean into this phase of life by providing tools to address challenges and experiences and to reveal the opportunities found in the later years. This powerful workshop provides the space and the opportunity for you to explore your potential for growth, sense of purpose, service and fulfillment in life’s later chapters.

This workshop will help you to unveil the gifts of aging in creative and meaningful ways, while you access knowledge and practices that allow you to thrive. By learning to listen to your inner guidance, and exploring with others who are on the same journey, you can experience not only your deepest personal wisdom, but also the collective life lessons of the group. An Introduction to Trauma-Informed Mindfulness

Recent research on trauma has led to a greater understanding of trauma's impact on the brain and the various pathways to recovery.  We have also seen a tremendous increase in interest in mindfulness practices and more clinicians and other health and wellness professionals are incorporating mindfulness practices into their work. This workshop will explore both the benefits and the cautions of mindfulness practices for trauma survivors.  You will learn modifications to make practices safe and effective. The workshop is geared to those who instruct/facilitate mindfulness practices (including yoga) and can also benefit those who have experienced trauma and would like to begin or enhance their personal practice.

Please Contact me  for information on hosting a workshop at your business, school, church or community group.
